Dr. Melissa Gastellum, ND
Dr. Melissa Gastellum chose Naturopathic medicine because it resonated with how she approaches her own health, with its emphasis on prevention and non-toxic therapies to restore balance to the body. She believes the foundations of health include exercise, sleep, individualized diets, proper digestion and stress reduction.
Dr. Mel completed her general practice residency at Paracelsus Natural Family Health Center, where she treated patients with both acute and chronic conditions. It was there that she began to focus on working with patients with autoimmune disorders, cancer, or those who were recovering after cancer treatment. She has attended seminars internationally with experts in IV therapy and integrative oncology, including the annual Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians conference, Advanced Topics in Intravenous Nutrient Therapies, and the International Mistletoe Meeting in Germany.
While in medical school she received advanced training in classical homeopathy with Dr. Andre Saine at the Canadian Academy of Homeopathy in Montreal. After graduating, she completed an intensive in-patient internship program at TrueNorth Health Center in Santa Rosa, CA, focusing on medically supervised water-only fasting.
Prior to medical school, she studied athletic training and sports injuries, and was certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
When not in the clinic, Dr. Mel spends her free time doing Crossfit, working on puzzles, reading and hiking.
She is a member of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians, and California Naturopathic Doctors Association.
